Toby Amies is a London-based director, writer, and photographer who’s created feature films and short-form documentaries for Netflix, Nowness, the BBC, Chanel, Film4, Tate, Jo Malone, Christies, and the Arts Council.
Toby is ½ British, ½ Australian. Both his feature documentaries The Man Whose Mind Exploded and In the Court of the Crimson King were widely acclaimed in the press and have played festivals, streamers and cinemas worldwide.
In the past he worked as a writer and presenter for MTV, HBO, Lonely Planet, Radio 4, and the BBC World Service interviewing everyone from Pavarotti to the Sex Pistols to Madonna. His award-winning photographic work has been published in Dazed and Confused, The Telegraph, and The Guardian. He loves cats, cacti, and music.
A British producer based in Amsterdam, with 25 years experience of filmmaking and speech content production across the globe.
His commercial work has included brands such as Faberge, Ben Sherman, Musto, and Sotheby’s.
Rob has produced feature films that have played in festivals such as SXSW, Hotdocs and Melbourne and been broadcast by Film Four, BBC, Netflix and Arte.
His most recent film was Off The Rails, which won best feature Documentary 2022 at Buenos Aires International Film Festival and BEST FILM at DOCEDGE Film Festival New Zealand.
